Collect voices - let others explore options for me!
How to begin
- Pretend your a scientist.
- Aim
- Hypothesis-- what you think the result will be and why
- Method statement- how will I test hypothesis (ideally it's practical for an actor) - without practical experience, all you learn about is someone else's experience.
- Research required - big picture
- Specifics within big picture
- Carry out the experiment!
- Conclusion - answer to research question and how it relates to Aim and Hypothesis. Ideally the conclusion is not the answer you expected!
Practical application is the only way to apply what I'M learning and make it work for ME and my career-- if it doesn't work, FIND SOMETHING ELSE.
The AUDIENCE is your most important collaborator - a performance can be exactly the same but audience's experience/context changes the theatre process/performance.
USE the audience as a tool-- let them help you. Find a way to let them help you!
Performance should explore questions that cannot be answered in any other way.
